The South Carolina Education Oversight Committee (EOC) recently approved its five-year Strategic Plan during August’s full committee retreat.
"The EOC’s 2026-2031 Strategic Plan will provide the committee with a path forward to help guide our work during the next five years,” said EOC Executive Director Dana Yow.
The strategic plan will be used to direct the EOC’s work in accordance with its legislative duties, and is organized into three sections: reporting facts, measuring change and promoting progress.
Each section includes objectives that the committee would like to see accomplished, along with the proposed methods for meeting them.
Objectives include improving data access, promoting student-centered outcomes, and acting as an effective advisor and honest broker to stakeholder groups.
“This is very much geared towards the student’s success, and I think that is the whole point of education,” said EOC member Melanie Barton during discussion on the plan.
