Sen. Dwight A. Loftis appointed to EOC

COLUMBIA, SC, February 14, 2022 - The Honorable Dwight Loftis, an SC State Senator serving Greenville County residents in Senate District 6, has been appointed to serve as a member of the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee (EOC). Senator Loftis was appointed by the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Harvey S. Peeler, Jr., to serve as his designee to the committee. Senator Loftis’s term will begin immediately.
 
Loftis was first elected to the South Carolina Senate in 2019 after serving in the House of Representatives from 1996-2019. As a member of the House of Representatives, Loftis served on the EOC from 2015-2019 as a designee for the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
 
Loftis currently serves on the Education, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Banking and Insurance, Judiciary, and Medical Affairs Committees.
 
A Greenville native, Loftis graduated from North Greenville College. He has long demonstrated his passion for education, previously serving as chairman of the North West Business Education Partnership School District in Greenville, member of the Leadership Council School District, and Trustee of Greenville County School District.
 
“The EOC serves a valuable role in the continuous improvement of South Carolina’s education system,” stated Loftis, “I am looking forward to re-joining the EOC for the second time in hopes of improving the education system for SC’s young people.” 

The SC Education Oversight Committee is an independent, non-partisan group made up of 18 educators, business persons, and elected leaders. Created in 1998, the committee is dedicated to reporting facts, measuring change, and promoting progress within South Carolina’s education system.
